The South African artist Dirk Meerkotter would have turned 100 this year. We will be hosting a wonderful programme of music and art events in Linden to celebrate his life and work!

Join Richard Cock and the Chanticleer Singers for an evening of music to celebrate the life of the artist Dirk Meerkotter whose centenary falls this year. The music will be combined with visual illustrations to demonstrate Meerkotter’s enormous diversity and creativity. The Artworks have inspired the choice of music which ranges from early French music, to music by Lauridsen, van Dijk, Rheinberger and the premiere of a work, “Music for a While” by Este Meerkotter, granddaughter of the artist.

Linden Youth Choir
Join the Linden Youth Choir in celebrating the life and work of the artist Dirk Meerkotter who would have been 100 this year. For the first time in more than a decade some of his Iconic works will be shown and the music will be combined with visuals and the actual art.
The Linden Youth Choir has an extensive repertoire of music. When they burst into song you can expect anything from Leonard Cohen’s Alleluya to the Gloria of Vivaldi. Favourites from well-known musicals such as Les Misérables, Afrikaans folk songs and ballads and even Bohemian Rhapsody are all regularly included in the concert programmes.

Singing romantic music from the City of Love that Dirk and Annie Meerkotter enjoyed, making friends, sharing food, wine and their love for the arts at La Cite d’Paris.
Enjoy the Paris nights with the French Legends, The Divas, The Magical Musicals …”en ‘n Tikseltjie Rooiwynliefde”
Dirk Meerkotter’s art will be on exhibition for the duration of the event at Hoërskool Linden. We look forward to seeing you there!
Artworks will be on display from 18:00 (join us for a glass of wine). Concerts begin at 19:30.
